Periodontal Treatment (gum disease)

There are two types of gum diseases: the early stage Gingivitis and the severe form – Periodontitis.

Gingivitis can usually be treated with improved oral hygiene and professional scale and clean.  The bleeding and swelling of the gums normally cease.

Periodontitis is the advanced stage of gum disease that causes the teeth to come loose and eventually fall out.  The gum recedes and bone supporting the teeth is lost, hence the movement.

The diagnosis and treatment of gum disease in its early stage is essential.  Once the bone support is lost, it cannot be regained.  The gum treatment will stop or slow down progression of the disease.
